Understanding The Physics of Strategy: The Time Factor

Source: Wkozak.com

In any strategic situation, one of the initial steps of a good strategist is to mindfully know what is around him or her.  He starts by being mindful of the space factor and the time factor.

Following is a listing of five tactical factors that operates within the tectonic level of this "strategic space" factor:
  • the safety factor;
  • the constraints factor;
  • the complexity factor;
  • the distance factor and
  • the current disposition to the destination point,

The Time Factor
The strategist (he/she) can control some aspects of their space within the grand terrain(and beyond)  but the time factor could be controlled if one strategically thinks about it.

Focus on how those five factors intertwine with the timeline of your project and you will be able to conclude the end result (strategic efficiency) that is derived from understanding the convergence of those five factors while being mindful of the state of his grand objective.

The following informational item centers on the concept of time:

Here are 10 facts about time (and the Colorado super-clock) that we learned from that excellent NPR story:

1 STRONTIUM RULES ALL

"Inside a small chamber, the strontium atoms are suspended in a lattice of crisscrossing laser beams. Researchers then give them a little ping, like ringing a bell. The strontium vibrates at an incredibly fast frequency. It's a natural atomic metronome ticking out teeny, teeny fractions of a second."

2 O'BRIAN'S MASTER CLOCK CAN KEEP TIME FOR 5 BILLION YEARS

"Our aim is that we'll have a clock that, during the entire age of the universe, would not have lost a second."

3. TIME DOES NOT TICK AT THE SAME RATE IN EVERY PART OF THE UNIVERSE

Nor, even, on every corner of planet earth

4. TIME TICKS FASTER ON MT. EVEREST THAN IT DOES IN DEATH VALLEY

"Speed at which time passes depends on the strength of gravity. Einstein himself discovered this dependence as part of his theory of relativity, and it is a very real effect."

5. IF YOU PICK A CLOCK OFF THE FLOOR AND HANG IT ON THE WALL...

...the time will speed up by about one part in 10 to the 16th power

6. THE SUPER-CLOCK CAN SENSE TIME SPEEDING UP...

...as it moves inch by inch away from the earth's core

7. TINY SHIFTS IN THE EARTH'S CRUST CAN THROW EVERYTHING OFF

Even while the clock is sitting still

8 THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP ACCURATE TIME IN THE FUTURE IS TO SEND SUPER CLOCKS INTO SPACE...

...where they are less suscepitble to gravity and other change-making elements

9 A NETWORK OF SPACE CLOCKS MIGHT BE USED TO DETECT GRAVITATIONAL WAVES

Like the kind that come from black holes and exploding stars
